Traveling from Kedarnath to Badrinath is one of the most beautiful drives, but it can also be the most unpredictable. In this video, we encountered a massive landslide that had shut down the road for two days. We were stuck for nearly an hour as the BRO (Border Roads Organization) worked tirelessly to clear the path.
The Mystery of the Mountain Nets:
You might have noticed huge metal nets attached to the hillsides. These are Rockfall Protection Nets. After a landslide, the soil and rocks become unstable. These high-tensile steel nets are pinned into the mountain to catch falling boulders and prevent them from hitting vehicles. It’s a life-saving engineering marvel used across the Char Dham route!
Driving in Monsoon (A Warning):
If you are planning your Yatra during the monsoon, please be extremely careful. We were lucky to get the "Green Signal" after an hour, but sometimes roads remain closed for days.
