Another chaotic week on the farm. I start with an update following last week's video on the dog attack and the missing lambs that were never found — and still no reimbursement. I explore the idea of flock guardian animals like alpacas, llamas, donkeys and dogs, and why they won’t work in my system.
Then it's onto a Landcruiser oil change that went badly wrong when I made a rookie schoolboy mistake and forgot to put the bung back in. The shed floor paid the price.
Later in the week, I’m welding up a new lambing shed with the help of Cian and high-risk pilot Tom. On Sunday, my little boy Noah joins me for a callout to catch two lame sheep — and we have a bit of fun in the process.
I reflect on the time of year, the losses that come before lambing, and finish up with loading the last ram lambs for the factory. Despite recent price drops, I’m relieved with how things turned out in the end.
