Episode 7 in this amateur and informal series of videos as we look around some of Britain's railway stations.
FORSINARD is the first non request stop we encounter as we head south on the Far North line towards Inverness.
The station serves a very rural area although there is a level crossing carrying an A road.
Along with the rest of the north end of the Far North line the station was opened in 1874. The main station buildings are now used as a visitor centre for bird watchers for the Forsinard Flows Nature Reserve. There is a former signal box at the north end of the station and a small waiting room on the south bound platform. There is a nearby hotel which has been closed down. The platforms are very low and the step from the train has been aided with platform step blocks.
Service trains are provided by Scotrail class 158 DMUs and twice a day north bound and south bound trains pass at Forsinard.
If you wish to read any of the information I have filmed during this video, it may be advisable to pause the frame to give yourself more time to take in the information.
