Peel Regional Police provide update on "major" retail theft investigation | FULL

Описание: Peel Regional Police on Friday revealed details of a “major" retail theft investigation led by the 11 Division Break and Enter Auto and Retail (BEAR) Organized Crime Unit.

Amir Nikbakht, a 41 year old man from Mississauga, was arrested on April 30, 2026, following a break and enter at Square One Mall in Mississauga.

“Investigators recovered nearly $1 million worth of jewelry, lottery tickets and other property,” Det. Joseph Cardi told press.

Deputy Chief Marc Andrews shared details on BEAR, which was launched in September 2025, “to fight break and enters in auto theft,” with gears quickly shifting “to aggressively target retail crime”, adding “we won’t tolerate it.”

Since launch, the BEAR Organized Crime Unit has made 93 arrests and laid 577 charges.
