The UN peacekeeping chief on Monday welcomed the deployment of the largest contingent of women peacekeepers from India in Abyei. "We are pleased to see the largest contingent of women peacekeepers from India arrive in Abyei, where they will be serving for peace with UNISFA. More women in peacekeeping mean more efficient operations, and they help better reflect the people we serve" UN Under-Secretary-General. The largest all-female platoon of Indian peacekeepers arrived in Abyei, to start their deployment with the UN Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA). Abyei, a disputed area on South Sudan's border with Sudan, has been given "special administrative status".
