Описание: Hear that rumble? Hoboken Manufacturers No. 700 is back and running!

With the help of Precision Locomotive, we've begun working out some bugs that developed in the several years the locomotive was idle. Today 700 rolled out of the United Railroad Historical Society of NJ's shop at Boonton Yard for the first time since we purchased it last year.

As was the case when we acquired the locomotive, only the rear engine is generating power. The front engine has been mothballed as the 700 only has traction motors on the rear truck. Today, Pat from Precision Locomotive and Erik, our mechanic, started up the front engine and worked out more bugs from an even longer period of sitting. Both D17000 motors are now healthy and running well.

When we acquired the locomotive from Tyburn Railroad Co., it also came with a trove of spare parts, which were hugely useful today. Also, back in March, we acquired a set of traction motor cores to be rebuilt for the front truck. With the front motor operational, plans can move ahead to rebuild those traction motors and make 700 operational end-to-end!
