Jaguar Land Rover has begun assembling the Range Rover Evoque at a new factory in Tamil Nadu, marking a strategic shift to tap India’s growing luxury car demand. Chief Minister M K Stalin inaugurated the Tata Motors–JLR manufacturing facility at Panapakkam, which will serve as a premium vehicle hub. With an annual capacity of 250,000 vehicles, the plant is expected to gradually absorb JLR assembly from Pune. While initial Evoque output will cater to the domestic market, Tata Motors plans to scale up production and explore export opportunities from the port-linked hub.
