Why Small Landlords are Exiting the Irish Property Market

Описание: Property expert, Owen Reilly shares his thoughts on why Irish landlords are selling up and leaving the property market. Owen outlines that the rental market has become so dysfunctional that neither landlords nor tenants are satisfied.

In Owen Reilly's Real estate firm, over 59% of sellers were landlords exiting the market, which is an ongoing trend, it was 53% in Q2 2021 and 64% in Q1 2021.

Some of the mitigating factors causing landlords to exit the market include:

High taxation.
Rising prices, making it a good time to sell properties.
RTB.ie - Residential Tenancies Board causing problems for landlords.
High maintenance costs.
