The total length of the Second Ring Road in Chengdu is 28.3km.
The Second Ring Road in Chengdu spans Jinniu District, Qingyang District, Wuhou District, Chengdu High-tech Zone, Jinjiang District, and Chenghua District. The East Half Ring Road (North Railway Station to Niushikou) was opened to traffic simultaneously with the First Ring Road in 1986. On May 7, 1990, the Chengdu Main Road Construction Headquarters held a press conference and announced that the construction of the transit (second ring) road, the largest municipal project in Chengdu's history, had begun.
