"Mazurek Dąbrowskiego" - National Anthem of Poland

Описание: Mazurek Dąbrowskiego (English: "Dąbrowski's Mazurka") is the national anthem of Poland. It is also known by its opening line, "Jeszcze Polska nie zginęła" ("Poland has not yet perished"). It was originally written to boost the morale of Polish soldiers fighting abroad and has served as a symbol of national resilience for over two centuries.

In 1795, the Third Partition of Poland saw the country completely erased from the map, divided between Russia, Prussia, and Austria. Two years later, in July 1797, a Polish nobleman and activist named Józef Wybicki arrived in Reggio Emilia, Italy. He was there to join the Polish Legions, a volunteer army led by General Jan Henryk Dąbrowski that was fighting alongside Napoleon Bonaparte in hopes of eventually liberating Poland.

Wybicki wrote the lyrics (originally titled "Song of the Polish Legions in Italy") to boost the morale of soldiers. It was first sung during a parade on July 16 or 20, 1797, and its impact was immediate. The song spread within the borders of occupied Poland and becoming a symbol of resistance for over a century.

After Poland finally regained independence in 1918 at the end of the first World War, several songs were considered for the national anthem. Mazurek Dąbrowskiego was chosen as it had united the polish people across three different empires for 120 years. It was officially adopted by law on February 26, 1927.
