"In the Winter Woods"
Poem by Frederick George Scott
Photography by Octavio Noda
Frederick George Scott was a Canadian poet and author, known as the Poet of the Laurentians. He is sometimes associated with Canada's Confederation Poets, a group that included Charles G. D. Roberts, Bliss Carman, Archibald Lampman, and Duncan Campbell Scott. Many of his poems use the natural world symbolically to convey deeper spiritual meaning.
Octavio Noda is a photographer, film importer and distributor, and retired librarian. He has been a good friend of the Lakewood Public Library, and a friend of many academic, public and school libraries throughout the country. Octavio has spent much of his career making international resources, including films, available to libraries and their patrons.
