New South Wales Premier Chris Minns addresses the first toll increase for the Sydney Harbour Bridge crossing in over ten years.
Mr Minns said “any money” raised from the increase will go toward toll relief for the state’s network on January 1.
“There’s a 60-dollar toll cap that’ll apply for the entire state – you won’t pay more than 60 dollars in a week,” he told Sky News Australia.
“But it hasn’t been lifted since 2009 – to put that into perspective, a trip from Campbelltown to the city has gone from 12 dollars to 34 dollars return. A trip from over the Harbour Bridge has gone from 4 dollars to 4 dollars.
“So there needed to be some fairness between those that live in the east and the west, and any money we raise will go back into toll relief.”
