As Law and order increasingly becomes a political issue, there is widespread discontent among Britain’s police about their rates of pay, about the public’s attitude towards them and about their working conditions. Today the police are legally barred from taking strike action in support of any pay claim they may make. More and more police are asking if they should have the right to strike.
Once before in 1918-1919, police dissatisfaction ran so hight that the force came out on strike. This Week speaks to some of those former officers about whether the same could happen again.
