Here is a lineup of the five major types of cushion cut diamonds on the hand and keep watching for close ups of each one on the hand. Keep in mind the order does change but read below and you can spot which one is which

First is the true cushion brilliant which has the most distinct faceting pattern with pavilion facets that extend directly from the girdle (edge of the diamond) to the bottom point. It can mimic the sparkle and face-up dimensions of a round diamond but comes with a hefty price tag.

***Next is our favorite and the main type of cushion cut diamond we stock; the hybrid cushion brilliant. This one looks very similar to the true cushion brilliant but comes in at a more reasonable price point. These diamonds are our choice for engagement ring center-stones giving you a crisp sparkle and a large face-up appearance. Bonus point; this is an elongated shape cushion

In the middle is an example of a square cushion cut. For a square cushion you would be looking at anything with a length to width ratio of 1.05:1 or less. Many people do prefer the elongated stones because they appear larger on the hand, but the square cushions will have a more compact sparkle

Next is the "crushed ice" cushion which gives off a watery type of sparkle and has smaller, scattered flashes of sparkle. While some may prefer this look, keep in mind they are heavier stones and hide a lot of the weight on the bottom making them appear smaller than the brilliant styles listed above. These are also less expensive but for good reason

Last is the "antique cushion" which has a distinct chunky facet appearance and an open culet in the middle. We love the look of these diamonds but they are very rare and priced higher than all other types of cushions
