How to Make Dreamy Vanilla Brioches 🥐
1. Start by sifting your flour into a large mixing bowl. Gently make a little well in the center. Into this cozy little space, add the dry yeast, a pinch of sugar, and about 3 tablespoons of lukewarm milk. Cover it, and let the magic begin — in about 10 minutes, the yeast will bloom and become beautifully foamy.
2. Once it’s ready, add in the remaining milk, sugar, salt, your egg, the soft butter, and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Knead it all together for around 10 minutes — until the dough feels silky, smooth, and elastic to the touch. Cover it and let it rest in a warm, cozy spot for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
3. After the dough has risen, divide it gently into 6 equal portions (each about 75 grams). Shape each one into a soft oval, about 10 by 15 cm.
4. Brush each oval with your fragrant vanilla butter mixture, then use a knife to make delicate slits across the center — but be sure not to cut all the way to the edges.
Now, softly roll each oval from the short side, forming a snug little roll. Tuck each roll into a greased muffin tin, with the seam side down.
5. Cover the rolls again, and let them rise for another 20 to 30 minutes, until they look full and fluffy. Then brush the tops with a bit of melted butter for that golden finish.
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake the brioches for 20 to 25 minutes, or until they’re a soft, golden brown.
Once out of the oven, brush them again with the remaining melted butter. Cover and let them rest, letting the butter soak in gently. Finish with a soft dusting of powdered sugar — and enjoy every delicate bite. ✨
