Rivers such as the Sapta Sindhavah ("seven rivers" Sanskrit: सप्तसिन्धवः),[1] play a prominent part in the hymns of the Rig Veda, and consequently in early Vedic religion.
Sindhu means the region of the seven rivers. This was the region in which the Aryans first settled when they arrived in India.
Sapta sindhu is also known as seven sacred rivers according to rigveda. The area of Sapta Sindhu has the Saraswati River in the east and the Sindhu River in the west.
Water plays a very relevant role for Hinduism. take a dip in one of these rivers also has an important religious meaning. People believe bathing in one of the sacred rivers releases from any sin, as wells as removing people´s fear of death and removes all sins.
