Swades Foundation, founded by #Ronnie and Zarina #Screwvala introduced a unique system of collaborative living — a 360-degree model of development
that uplifts the lives of people from the villages in Maharashtra and make them self-reliant.
Swades divides the village into leadership and self-help groups, and create committees like water, vaccination, sanitation committees. The committees then become responsible for their vertical and make sure that everyone in the village receives water, timely medical facilities, etc.
The Village Development Committees then works independently to transform their own lives.
The organisation has empowered 6 lakh people and has already transformed
2,700 villages in Maharashtra’s Raigad and Nashik districts
