For example, our XL Blademate trailer is specifically designed for hauling wind turbine blades. If you've ever seen a wind turbine rolling down the highway, you know they require a long trailer for transport. The longer the length of the trailer the more difficult it is for the driver to control the rear. This makes it challenging to move these huge wind turbines. Our XL Blademate trailer is an ideal solution that features a unique hydraulically operated self-steering system. This means the axles automatically rotate to always keep the trailer behind the truck. Our XL Blademate has a load rating of 90,000 pounds and is 53 feet long when closed. When the trailer is fully extended, it's 184 feet long. This rugged trailer can haul even the longest blades. Our telescoping main frame features XL's trusted extendable technology, which is a system known as the smoothest and easiest on the market. It uses six-inch greaseable double rollers to smoothly extend and retract once the trailer is extended to 124 feet.

You'll appreciate that the trailer has stops every 18 inches along the remainder of the main frame because these stops provide more length options to accommodate many sizes of blades. A rear 20-foot pull-out bumper on rollers allows for hassle-free extension, while the bumper has stops every 24 inches for added tie down points. 24-inch-long load bumps can be positioned on any area of the beam. Rolling load bunks roll into place so the non-rolling versions can be positioned with a forklift. In all we do, XL takes safety very seriously, so you'll appreciate the convenient safety features on our Blademate trailer. A beacon on the side trailer toolbox illuminates when the axles turn out of alignment 3 degrees or more. This signal alerts other vehicles that the driver is making a turn also allows the driver and pilot car to monitor any unplanned axle rotation, therefore preventing accidents.

To further promote safety, three indicator lights show green when the system is on and red when it's off. In addition, an oil indicator light warns the operator when the axle system pressure is getting low as well. There’s even a large work light installed on the gooseneck that shines 1200 lumens rearward and spotlights the area drivers need as they load unload or check their cargo in the dark.
