'That's the risk': Cyber-based attack could target critical infrastructure

Описание: Innovative Australian company Softiron is trying to prevent harm being done to Australia’s technology systems by creating a “private-cloud” system – providing stronger defence from cyberattacks.

“We live in a connected world, whether it’s traffic lights, petrol pumps or power stations, this all relies on ICT infrastructure,” said Softiron Chief Operating Officer Jason Van Der Schyff.

“If that were to be attacked, we could turn all the petrol pumps off, the power off, make all the traffic lights red.

“That’s the risk here, not that a missile is going to come but it’s going to be a cyber-based attack and it’s going to sit onside our critical infrastructure.”
