Digestive Gland - Pancreas
digestion was completed by set of enzymes.
secreted by accessory glands ( Pancreas, Liver, Gall bladder)
gives their secretion into Duodenum of small intestine
Pancreas
Exo – acini cells ; endo- ά, β, δ
helps in breakdown of protein, fat and carbohydrate
1)Trypsinogen
Enterokinase converts it to active trypin
& by activated trypsin
secreted at duodenum acts on protein
2. Chymotrypsinogen - proteolytic enzyme, activated by trypsin,
3. Carboxypeptidase - peptide into amino acids
4. Lipase (steapsin) - emulsified fat into fatty acid and glycerol
5. Nuclease
nucleus → nucleotides
DNA ase & RNA ase
DNA → Deoxyribonucleotides
RNA → Ribonucleotides
Digestive Gland – Liver
Liver (.8 – 1.2 l) pH 8 – 8.6; 97.6% - water; 2.4%- solids
largest gland of human body, hepatocyte – liver cells
stores glycogen, vitamin B12, iron.,
produce coagulation factors (I,II,V,VII,IX,X,XI), red blood cells
ornithine cycle takes place here
cholesterol synthesis, lipid metabolism
Kupffer cells – macrophages
breaks down haemoglobin & produce bile pigments
Bilirubin & biliruvidin sends outside through bilejuice
bile juice - cholesterol, bile pigments, bile salts
