You would think that art would be one of the first things to go in the apocalypse, but in reality, the opposite was true, at least in my experience. It seems like once the daily grind ground to a halt and we were all face-to-face with our impending doom, the significance of doing something so quintessentially human suddenly felt all the more important. Overnight, the rubble of what was once a bustling city center became a technicolor mural, and poets posted up on streetcorners to narrate the end times in soft verse.
But the real hot spot was by the bridge, where jazz licks danced in the air in abject defiance of the idea that life would not persist. This is where I found hope for my final project: a Brass Record. One final testament to humanity - not our politics or our high-minded accomplishments, but an imprint of the emotions we carried in our hearts and poured out at the altar of creation. One final assertion that WE WERE HERE, and our experiences mattered. One final hope that the spirit of humanity would find its way into the future.

Despite being shorter than most of my tracks, this song was by far my longest-running project, taking months from the initial concept to the finished product. That said, even though this style is outside of my usual comfort zone, this is probably my favorite project to date, and it really pushed me to approach the composition process from a new angle. It was heavily inspired by the works of Shin'ichirô Watanabe and the musical stylings of Yoko Kanno, both of whom I consider to be geniuses at their respective crafts and true greats of our era.
Thanks for taking the time to listen and support my channel! I appreciate you all.
Remember, no matter how bleak things may seem, that the heart of humanity is a force that continues to connect us all.
