Open from the 9pm newscast on Sinclair's FOX affiliate in Des Moines, Iowa. The newscast is produced by Hearst-owned CBS affiliate KCCI, recorded on Monday, January 19, 2026.

Launched at the beginning of the year, the 9pm newscast on KDSM that's outsourced to KCCI originally didn't contain any FOX 17 branding at all. For the most part it still doesn't. That's because the newscast also airs on KCCI's subchannel. Basically, KDSM now airs the 9pm newscast KCCI was already producing for its MeTV channel, with an exclusive 9:30pm half-hour on Fox. Since the launch, a special "open" with the FOX 17 logo was made and is used for the tease that airs before the actual newscast. A commercial airs in between the tease and newscast, and that continues to just cold open right into the show.

The Sinclair L-bar, added by KDSM, is used as well.

Graphics are D25 from Hearst, music is "Strive" (Hearst owns the package outright, the original composition was from In The Groove but it's currently maintained by what used to be called DreamArtists Studios), and voiceover is Steve Stone.
