Описание: Japan has been America's biggest foreign lender for years — and it did it for one reason: at home, its money earned almost nothing. That's over. Japan's 10-year government bond yield is now around 3%, the highest in about 30 years, and the 30-year JGB hit a record 4.235%. According to U.S. Treasury data, Japan's holdings of US Treasuries fell from about $1.24 trillion in February to $1.10 trillion in July — roughly $135 billion in five months.

Is Japan selling US Treasuries? Is the yen carry trade unwinding? This video explains how Japan became America's banker, why the Japan bond market crisis is changing the math for Japanese investors, what the joint US–Japan yen intervention means — and why it matters for US Treasury yields, mortgages and your money. Plus: who owns the US national debt now, and who will buy it next.
