In September 2016, NKP 765 once again visited the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad for their annual Steam in the Valley event. This year, the locomotive was dressed up as NKP 767, the number it wore when it was donated to the city of Fort Wayne at the end of the steam era. These were also the engine's first excursions with its MARS light since the 1970s.
This was my first time seeing the 765, which has been at the top of my to-do list for several years now. Despite the renumbering, I was impressed by the massive Berkshire and had a great time chasing it back and forth through the National Park, despite the crowded roads and the train not always keeping to schedule. I look forward to both seeing the 765 and returning the the Cuyahoga Valley again in the future.
