Synova SA manufactures advanced laser machining systems that incorporate its proprietary water jet guided laser technology (Laser MicroJet®). This method of cutting combines a laser with a “hair-thin” water jet that precisely guides the laser beam by means of total internal reflection.
In this video, we demonstrate the machining of silicon carbide (SiC), one of the hardest materials on earth. Using our 5-axis LCS-50 machine, the material is shaped into a high-precision compass design. This example showcases how Synova’s Laser MicroJet® (LMJ) technology enables the cutting of hard, brittle materials into complex 3D geometries, while maintaining sharp edges and preserving material integrity.
