YouTube just doubled the watch hour requirement for monetization — and if you've ever worried about youtube demonetization, this changes the math for getting reinstated too. Starting February 1, 2027, new applicants to the YouTube Partner Program need 8,000 watch hours in a rolling 365-day period (up from 4,000), or 20 million Shorts views in 90 days (up from 10 million).I got monetized on this channel the hard way — averaging close to 80-100 watch hours a week through consistent livestreaming to hit the old 4,000-hour bar.

Your standing is based on a rolling 365-day average — if you ever dip below the threshold for any reason and lose monetization, you may be walking back in under the NEW, doubled requirement, not the one you originally qualified under. I'd recommend checking whether you're consistently hitting at least 700 watch hours a month as a buffer.
