Sunday of the Prodigal Son (February 8, 2026 / January 26, 2026)

1 Corinthians 6:12–20
Luke 15:11–32

We must strive to experience that moment that the Prodigal Son had, when the Gospels say he “came to himself”. We want that realization that the sin in our lives to which we cling and which we even love, is ugly and destructive. We need to see ourselves as we really are, not with complacency, thinking we are “good enough” for the kingdom of Heaven. We are not good enough. We need, like the Prodigal, to go to our Father, repent of our sins, and take action to turn our lives around, even when that means one small step at a time. Even when that means a long road with many failures.
