In this video I head out to some forest access backroads on a winter camping adventure in Ontario.
I travelled about two hours west of Ottawa ON in hopes of making to a lake to camp for the night. I came to this area two weeks earlier and the road was not accessible. I was able to make it most of the way but decided not to take on a long icy slope considering I was alone without proper recovery gear.
I found a perfect spot off the road and set up camp. Shortly after making dinner and a fire the rain moved in quick and heavy. I was only able to enjoy the fire for a few minutes.
I slept well with the sound of raindrops landing on the tent roof.
The drive out was a little sketchy as the trail iced up over night. I made it safely to the highway and headed home for several hours of cleaning as most of my gear was damp from the rain.
I am looking forward to venturing further on this road soon.
