Tamid, the Daily Offering

Описание: At the Jewish Pentecost at Mount Sinia, God gave the Israelites the Law through Moses. The daily offering, called the Tamid, was commanded to be offered in the morning and evening. So for over 1300 years (excluding 70 years in Babylon Captivity, twice a day (almost 1,000,000 times), this sacrifice was offered to God as a pleasing sacrifice. The sacrifice had two elements: a bloody element and an unbloody element. The bloody element was a lamb and the unbloody element of the sacrifice was bread and wine. (Exodus 29: 38-42, Numbers28: 1-8)

Jesus, and the twelve apostles, and Stephen and Paul were all Jews. And this sacrifice took place twice a day every day and they were aware of it. It was a central part of their history as a people, their worship, and everything of Jewish life centered around it.

"The daily offering in the Old Testament,
in a certain sense,
was the most important of all the feasts,
and the most important of all the sacrifices,
because it was offered everyday:
in the morning and in the evening,
morning and evening.

And look what it consisted of:

In the morning and in the evening,
you would offer a sacrifice of a bloody element,
which would be a lamb,
and then an unbloody element,
a sacrifice of bread and wine.

So every day,
morning and evening,
morning and evening,
morning and evening,
perpetually,
there was to be a lamb and bread and wine offered to God
as a pleasing offering.

And it was called the Tamid which in Hebrew means
"the Perpetual Offering",
"the Continual Offering".

It was an "eternal sacrifice" so to speak.
It was meant to go on forever and ever and ever and ever,
without end."
