Some friendships don't age. They just grow.

More than 15 years after high school, the Kalsay barkada reunited in Magalang, Pampanga—and for 24 hours, time folded in on itself. We rented a stunning villa nestled at the foot of Mount Arayat, complete with a sparkling pool, spacious living areas, and all the amenities we needed to reconnect. But the real luxury? Being together again.

This wasn't just a staycation. It was a homecoming.

We spent the day doing what we've always done best: dancing (Tyla's "Chanel" on repeat until we got the choreography right), cooking together in the kitchen, celebrating with an accomplishment cake (because surviving adulthood deserves recognition), and watching our friends' daughters run around—the next generation of Kalsay already forming bonds of their own.

Somewhere between the poolside laughter and late-night kwentuhan, I found a version of myself that only exists when I'm with them. The one who laughs too loud, dances without self-consciousness, and feels completely seen. That's the gift of lifelong friends: they hold the blueprint of who you were and celebrate who you've become.

We may have crossed different paths after graduation. We're older now. Wiser. Carrying mortgages, careers, relationships, and responsibilities. But when we're together? Everything feels the same. Home still feels like home.
