Different types of Stirrups are used in the construction industry such as Single Legged Stirrup, Two-Legged Stirrup, Three-legged Stirrup, etc.

Stirrups are rectangular steel pieces used to resist lateral shear stress and diagonal tension stress in RCC structures. Single Legged Stirrup:

Two Legged Stirrup:

If you visit any construction site, you can observe mostly these types of stirrups are used.

Three-legged Stirrup:
As you can observe from the figure, in this arrangement a two-legged stirrup and single-legged stirrup are used to tie 6 reinforcement bars.

Four Legged Stirrup:
A four-legged stirrup generally consists of two overlapping stirrups that don’t wrap all the rods.

When we use a single stirrup to tide a beam or column at the same time, we are saying it is a two-leg stirrup and thus if we use a Double stirrup to tide than a beam or column at that time, we say it is 4 leg stirrups. that’s why A single stirrup has two legs.

Five Legged Stirrup:
It is the combination of a four-legged stirrup and a single-legged stirrup.

Six Legged Stirrup:
This very interesting type of stirrup for a civil engineer. In this, a single stirrup encircles all 8 rods and an extra leg provides additionals support. Extra legs are provided within the big stirrup which holds all reinforcement bars.
