Dal Fara (or Dal Phara) is a traditional North Indian dish made with a flavorful lentil stuffing wrapped in soft rice flour or wheat dough. It’s steamed and then sautéed with mild spices — a healthy, protein-packed snack or breakfast that’s light yet filling.
In this video, I’ll show you step-by-step how to make perfect Dal Fara — soft on the outside, spicy & aromatic inside! 🌸
Ingredients:
1 cup soaked chana dal (or moong dal)
2 cups wheat flour
1 tsp cumin seeds
2–3 green chilies
Garlic & ginger (as per taste)
Salt, red chili powder, turmeric
Mustard seeds & curry leaves (for tadka)
Ghee or oil
Cooking Steps:
1️⃣ Soak dal for 2–3 hours and grind coarsely with spices.
2️⃣ Knead dough and roll small portions into ovals.
3️⃣ Fill with dal mixture and seal properly.
4️⃣ Steam for 10–15 mins till cooked.
5️⃣ Temper with mustard seeds, curry leaves & serve hot with chutney! 🌶️💚
