Jacob, on his journey to Haran, stops to rest and uses a stone for a pillow. He dreams of a ladder reaching to heaven with angels ascending and descending on it, symbolizing a connection between earth and the divine. Upon awakening, Jacob recognizes the place as sacred and vows to serve God, acknowledging that the Lord is with him and will guide him. He sets up a stone pillar and anoints it, declaring that this place shall be called Bethel, symbolizing his commitment to rise higher in faith and devotion.
