Nestled deep in the forests of Lanaudière, Canada, this modern black lake house was designed to blend seamlessly into its natural surroundings. Inspired by traditional wooden cottages and Scandinavian architecture, the home appears like a shadow among the trees—quiet, minimal, and almost invisible from the lake.
Designed by Ghoche architecte, the compact yet elongated volume maximizes lake views, natural light, and privacy while minimizing deforestation. Burned wood cladding, a black steel roof, and warm oak interiors create a refined balance between durability, comfort, and nature.
This house is a peaceful retreat where architecture disappears, allowing the landscape to take center stage.
