The Chairperson of the Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA) has appealed to the Kampala Capital City Authority to restore order in Kampala’s central business district. The KACITA leadership accused KCCA enforcement officers of failing to maintain order, saying the disorder has caused massive losses to formal traders, especially between November and January.
At the same briefing, KACITA said the Internal Security Organisation has completed vetting most arcades affected by the 2025 floods and has submitted the final list to the Prime Minister for payment authorization. The traders’ association also called on traders to remain calm but vigilant as government agencies finalize compensation lists and pursue waivers to help affected importers recover their invested money.
