Описание: Za romantikou a zdravým pohybem vede cesta na Vítkův Hrádek /1053 m n.m./ na česko-rakouském pomezí nad jezerem Lipno. Původně se nacházel na významné obchodní stezce, stejně jako nedaleké rakouské hrady Waxenberg a Piberstein, avšak hraniční železná opona učinila tato místa na dlouho nepřístupná. Teprve po roce 1989 se otevřela šance na záchranu zříceniny hradu ze 13. století. Ujalo se ji Občanské sdružení Vítkův Hrádek a za pomoci institucí i jednotlivců zbytky hradu zachránili. Na vrchu bývalé obytné věže zřídili vyhlídkovou plošinu, ze které je vidět daleko do českého vnitrozemí i na vrcholky Alp. Vydat se k Vítkovu Hrádku lze pěšky nebo na kole z osady Svatý Tomáš s obnoveným gotickým kostelem a lesním hotelem. Z okolních turistických cílů jmenujme aspoň Lipno, Frymburk, Horní Planou s rodným domkem spisovatele Adalberta Stiftera, kamennou Čertovou stěnu, klášter ve Vyšším Brodě a nebo hrad Rožmberk.

If you are in a romantic mood or you want to do something good for your health, don't hesitate to take a trip to the castle called Vítkův Hrádek (1053 m above sea level) on the Czech and Austrian borders above the Lipno lake. In old times, Vítkův Hrádek was situated on an important commercial path much like the close by Austrian castles Waxenberg and Piberstein. Nevertheless, the Iron Curtain (during communist times) made these places unapproachable for a long time. It only became possible to restore the 13th century castle after 1989. A preservation society Vítkův Hrádek was formed with the idea of saving this place. Together, with help from different organisations and individuals, they succeeded. On the top of the former residential tower is an observation platform, from which on one side you can see far into the Czech countryside, and from the other the peaks of the Alps. You can access this chateau on foot or bicycle from the settlement of Svatý Tomáš (St. Thomas) with its reconstructed gothic church and a forest hotel. Among other favourite tourist spots are Lipno, Frymburk and Horní Planá, with the house where the famous writer Adalbert Stifter was born, the Čertova stĕna (Devil's rock), the monastery in Vyšší Brod and the Rožmberk castle.

Wer sich nach Romantik und gesunder Bewegung sehnt, der kann sich auf den Weg zum Vítkův Hrádek (Seehöhe 1053 m) an der tschechisch-österreichischen Scheide über dem Lipno-Stausee machen. Diese Burg lag seinerzeit genauso wie österreichische Burgen Waxenberg und Piberstein auf einem bedeutenden Handelsweg, wobei der Eiserne Vorhang aber diesen Ort für lange Jahre unzugänglich machte. Erst nach dem Jahre 1989 leuchtete die Hoffnung auf Rettung der Burgruine aus dem 13.Jahrhundert wieder auf. Der Idee hat sich der „Verein Vítkův Hrádek" angenommen, der mit Unterstützung von Institutionen und Einzelpersonen die Bergruine retten konnte. Oben auf dem ehemaligen bewohnten Turm wurde eine Aussichtsplattform errichtet, mit herrlicher Aussicht weit in Böhmens Innenland genauso wie auf die Gipfel der Alpen. Ausgangspunkt der Trasse zum Vítkův Hrádek mit dem Rad oder zu Fuss ist die Siedlung Svatý Tomáš mit wiederhergestellter gotischer Kirche und einem Waldhotel. Unter den in der Nähe liegenden touristischen Zielen sind für alle wenigstens der Ort Lipno, Frymburk, Horní Planá mit Geburtshaus des Schriftstellers Adalbert Stifter, steinige Wand Čertova stěna, Stift in Vyšší Brod oder Burg Rožmberk zu nennen.
