TCG – Time-Corrected Gain is a method of compensating for a reduction in signal amplitude with increasing range from reflectors of equal area. This is achieved by increasing the system gain with time so that the signals appear of equal amplitude.
Manual TCG in TD Scan is only used for pulse-echo or single focal law phased array set-ups. The TCG is established by identifying reference signals with onscreen markers positioned using a mouse. The desired number of points are selected in the configurator – up to 15 points may be defined. The on-screen markers are moved vertically to adjust a homogenised signal amplitude. As each marker is moved horizontally and vertically the time base, position and amplitude are updated and stored in the configurator. Each reference reflector signal may be checked and readjusted. In analysis mode the TCG may be displayed as a Distance Amplitude Curve (DAC).
The manual TCG functionality in TD Scan provides a high-level of control to the operator.
