NanLuoGuXiang is a hutong that starts from Gulou East Street in the north
and ends at Di'anmen East Street in the south, with a width of 8 meters and a total length of 787 meters.
It was first built in the Yuan Dynasty and has more than 740 years of history.
It is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Beijing, preserving intact the texture of
the Yuan Dynasty hutong courtyard, is a traditional residential area of chessboard style,
and is also the richest in old Beijing-style streets. The area was once the center of
the city during the Yuan Dynasty, and during the Ming and Qing Dynasties,
it was even more prosperous, housing numerous dignitaries and royal residences.

The structure of NanLuoGuXiang is very neatly laid out, with eight hutongs running north-south
and eight hutongs neatly arranged in a "fishbone" shape from east to west.
Some of the famous hutongs in old Beijing are located in this area,
such as the familiar Hutong of Hats, Hutong of Fried Beans, Hutong of East Cotton, and Hutong of Ju'er.
The area is also home to the former residences of several historical figures,
such as the master painter Qi Baishi, the literary scholar Mao Dun and the last Empress Wanrong.

Nowadays, NanLuoGuXiang has become a historical and cultural pedestrian street,
with many special stores on both sides of the main road.
It has become a must-see landmark of old Beijing, along with Yandai Byway to the west and the Shichahai area.
