Hello and welcome to The Gold Coast Art School channel!

Four times a year, I go through this exact process to clean our school brushes. It's usually the kids and teens (sorry students!) who leave our brushes looking like sticks, but we can usually save them with this cleaning process.

Acrylic paint is plastic, and water-based. So this cleaning process effectively softens the polymers and the bristles allowing the paint to be removed. You can use dishwashing liquid to clean the brushes, but we always find success with Chroma Incredible Brush Cleaner. I found it available at OFFICEWORKS, ART SHED, ECKERSLEYS, ART SUPPLIES AUSTRALIA, SPOTLIGHT... basically, you can get this stuff easily in Australia. If you're overseas, I'd welcome your own product suggestions in the comments below.

NEXT WEEK... I'll be posting a bit of a "Part 2" that I filmed at the same time, but figured it might be better as its own tutorial. Some brushes can be cleaned, but lose their shape. I will test a brush fixing hack and see if it's worth your time! Please tune in next week for that one 👍
