Influenza fever is an acute viral respiratory disease caused by the influenza virus. A and B influenza virus is seen in humans and is responsible for global epidemics—different strains, including H1N1, H3N2, and H1N2 cause influenza. The influenza virus is transmitted from one person to another through the air. Some of the symptoms seen are Fever, Sore throat, Nasal congestion, Nasal blockage, Cough, and Breathlessness. Fever is accompanied by severe muscle weakness and lethargic feeling. In infants, young children, and the elderly with comorbidities, influenza can become a serious problem. Influenza may lead to pneumonia and respiratory failure which can cause severe problems leading the patients to be put on ventilators. Oseltamivir is an antiviral commonly used for treating influenza fever. Treatment should be started in the early stage for the best outcome. Fever is treated with paracetamol, nasal congestion with antihistamine, and for cough we use cough suppressants.
