Beauly Firth & Glens Pipe Band playing at the 2009 Pitlochry Highland Games.
The band, under the direction of pipe major Paul Harrison and lead drummer Garry Smyth, is based in the picturesque village of Beauly in the North of Scotland. It was formed towards the end of 2002 and enjoys strong local community support.
The band plays regularly in Beauly Square throughout the summer season on Thursday evenings and wears its own Beauly Firth & Glens tartan.
Earlier in the day the band had participated in the Pitlochry Highland Games Parade (see separate video). All participating bands were judged on 'marching and smartness of turnout'. Beauly Firth & Glens was awarded first place.
Pitlochry Highland Games started in 1852 and incorporates a full range of traditional events. In the background you can see the Tug of War (the competition here was to decide the British Championship - won this year by Elgin) as well as the high jump and athletics.
