Today Jade talks about various reasons a snow blower may not start or run well, and how you can prevent serious injury. If you'd like to ask Jade a question, visit our forum. Your question may even be featured on the next Equipment Garage Gurus.

Has it been a while since you last used your snowblower? It's likely that the fuel in your snowblower has gotten old. When it gets old, fuel can gum up your engine - especially your carburetor. You may need to replace your carburetor and clean the engine to get it working again. If you suspect your snowblower will be sitting for more than a month and don't want this to happen again, you can add fuel stabilizer to your engine or drain the fuel out completely. Fuel stabilizer only works so long, so if you're planning to store it for a long time, draining the fuel is a better option.
If you were using your snowblower and it stopped quickly, it's possible that you ran something over, such as a pet leashes, toys or a newspaper. That can jam the auger or chute and keep it from working. If you know a storm is coming, it's a good idea to check over your driveway and clear it. If your chute or auger is clogged, it's a good idea to turn the machine off, wait for the engine to completely cool, and then take the newspaper out with a tool. Never put your hands near the auger, as it can cause serious injury.
Remember, there are some parts of your snowblower that are meant to wear down over time. Remember to check over these parts for wear and replace them as necessary so your snowblower can function at its best. Thanks for watching.
