This is a quick video showing the results of the Gold Plug magnetic drain bolt in action. The motorcycle is a well-maintained 2008 Yamaha XT250. The oil and filter have been changed every 1500-2000 miles with high-quality synthetic (Castrol 20W-50 4T).
The Gold Plug MP-01 was installed at 14500 miles with fresh oil and filter. This oil change is at 16500 miles and shows a drastic buildup of ferrous sludge after only 2000 miles.
This is a well-maintained, fully broken-in motor. If this much metallic debris was caught now, I can't imagine what else has been circulating in the sump and NOT being captured by the oil filters over the previous 14500 miles!
