Thinking about a career in clinical psychology or counseling? Hear directly from ASU alumni who are thriving in the field.
In this panel discussion, licensed professionals and psychologists share their journeys, advice and real-world insights into clinical psychology and counseling. Speakers included Kim Palmer, a licensed professional counselor and trauma specialist; Brooke Johnson, a licensed social worker at Trauma Counseling Associates; Zoe Garza, a board-certified behavior analyst at Ally Pediatrics; and Natalie Fabert, a licensed psychologist with a private practice in Arizona.
They discussed how they entered the field, their educational pathways and moments that inspired them to become therapists. All emphasized that one of the most rewarding aspects of their work is helping people feel seen, understood and not alone, with trauma therapy involving a mix of empowerment and cheerleading as part of the process.
This video is a recording of the main panel Q&A from an in-person alumni networking event held Tuesday, Sept. 17. This recurring event series, hosted by Arizona State University’s Department of Psychology, features three to four psychology alumni working in a specific industry.
