⭐ Definition (परिभाषा)

जब गर्भ में विकसित हो रहे fetus की मृत्यु 20 weeks gestation के बाद uterus के अंदर हो जाए और delivery से पहले confirm हो जाए, इसे Intra Uterine Fetal Death (IUFD) कहते हैं।

⭐ Causes (कारण)

🔹 Maternal causes:

Hypertensive disorders (PIH, Pre-eclampsia, Eclampsia)

Diabetes mellitus

Severe anemia

Infections


🔹 Placental causes:

Placental abruption

Placenta previa

Placental insufficiency


🔹 Fetal causes:

Congenital malformations

Chromosomal abnormalities

IUGR


🔹 Cord causes:

Cord prolapse

Cord knot

Cord compression

⭐ Signs and Symptoms (लक्षण)

Fetal movement का बंद हो जाना

Uterus का size कम लगना

Fetal heart sound absent

Mother को heaviness या abnormal feeling

No growth of abdomen

⭐ Diagnosis (नैदानिक जांच)

Ultrasound → No fetal cardiac activity

Doppler → No blood flow

NST → No variability

X-ray → Spalding sign (overlapping skull bones)

⭐ Complications (जटिलताएँ)

DIC (Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation)

Infection

Psychological trauma

Delayed labor

PPH (Postpartum Hemorrhage)

⭐ Management (प्रबंधन)

🔹 Confirm diagnosis via Ultrasound
🔹 Induction of labor – Misoprostol / Oxytocin
🔹 Monitor for DIC – coagulation profile
🔹 Emotional & psychological support
🔹 Delivery – vaginal preferred
🔹 Monitor for PPH after delivery
