The twentieth piece from 'Romantisches Intermezzo' is another extended 'romance' - like the 'Romance melancolique' from ealier in the book - with an attractive melody and a contrasting chordal middle section. I have made one or two additions (ornaments in the recap) and a small alteration to a couple of the chords.
Perhaps listeners who enjoy this piece and others like it in the collection should listen to Liszt's Romance (recorded on this channel) as an example of what a great composer could achieve in this genre beyond the constraints of composing 'educationally'.
