Ever wondered what's up with those Lego compatible Lord of the Rings and Hobbit army builder mini figure sets on eBay and Etsy? I've run across them many times while searching for LEGO deals on eBay. They made me curious but not enough to order a set until. Recently we started talking about building a Gates of Erebor MOC of the Battle of Five Armies movie so I took a chance and ordered a Dwarf army set. In this video we'll dive into these minifigs to see what they are all about.
Due to length, I divided the video into chapters:
0:00 - Stop Motion Short: The Gates of Erebor
1:34 - Video Intro
2:57 - Comparing Iron Hill Dwarves height to LEGO minifigures
3:42 - Closer look: print quality on the torso, legs, arms and faces
7:15 - Closer look: mold quality of the shield, armor, beards, helmets and those really cool weapons
14:57 - Final thoughts on the Iron Hill Dwarves minifigs
Totally failed to mention in the video that while these are advertised as LEGO compatible we found a few things interesting:
the legs will not fit into an official LEGO torso
the head will fit on an official LEGO torso but is a bit loose
the weapons will fit into an official LEGO hand but are a tad loose
official LEGO legs will fit into the torso of these figs
official LEGO head will fit onto the the torso of these figs
Given the theme of the video we just had to play with stop motion. Our skills are pretty elementary in that area but if you want to check out some really cool stop motion Lord of the Rings and Hobbit videos go check out Brotherhood Workshop on YouTube. They are one of our favorites!
