Hammerheads and Eagle Rays arrive at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium

Описание: We are excited to announce that we now have four scalloped hammerhead shark pups and two juvenile spotted eagle rays in a newly constructed aquatic holding area at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. They’ll stay in their temporary home behind-the-scenes until the new Pacific Seas Aquarium opens next summer. The six animals were transferred over the weekend in a highly choreographed operation. The sharks and rays immediately adjusted to their new homes - they are healthy, beautiful animals, and being cared for by extraordinary staff. In the coming weeks, more hammerheads and eagle rays are scheduled to arrive at the Zoo – including green sea turtles! The arrival of these animals is the second milestone in the course of one week toward the eventual opening of the long-awaited Pacific Seas Aquarium.
