But Deputy Clayton Riggs saw a Black woman driving a nice car and made assumptions. When Diane calmly informed him she was a federal FBI agent, Riggs didn't believe her. He refused to check her credentials in the glove box. Instead, he dragged her from the vehicle, handcuffed her brutally, and threw her into the back of his patrol car. What Riggs didn't know was that the dashboard camera was recording everything. When he finally found Diane's FBI credentials, his face went pale. That traffic stop cost him his career and his freedom. The city paid Diane $2.1 million. Riggs got fifteen years in federal prison. Justice, eventually, prevailed.
