In this video, we discuss some of the common factors that can influence how you invest EVs into your HP stat! As a result, some optimization is required. A lot of this is understanding factors and multiples and aiming for an HP number that can fulfill that number nicely. When it comes to recovery, you always want whole numbers, otherwise decimals will just round down, meaning you're recovering less and wasting EVs. From damage reduction, you'll always look to undercut the threshold values by 1 so this way you get the most amount of HP possible without breaking into the next breakpoint where you'll take 1 extra HP point of damage instead. We go through a few examples of these on pokemon showdown with a calculator so that you can also visually see how it's done!
